Start With Jesus
Everything worthwhile starts with Jesus! Want to get your life in order? Start with Jesus. Want to be a more loving person? Start with Jesus. Need rest and peace? Start with Jesus.
Who is Jesus? Jesus is God, the Son. He’s what it looks like when God takes on human flesh and shows up so we can get a good look at Him. He’s also the Savior of the world, laying down His own life in a brutal death on a Roman cross. He fully embraced the consequence of our sin so we wouldn’t have to.
He was buried but, on the third day, rose again. This, more than anything else, validated all of Jesus’ radical claims about who He is and what He came to do. This is what continues to draw billions of people to Him 2,000 years later.
Some people start by learning from Jesus and testing what He taught. Others dive right in and begin by trusting Him to forgive their sins and lead their lives.

Live Like Jesus
Before they knew Him as Savior, Jesus’ disciples knew Him as teacher and Jesus embraced that title, pointing out that, “everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.”
Jesus invited those first disciples to follow Him, to learn from Him, to emulate Him. His invitation still stands today. As followers of Jesus today, we read about His life and words as we partner with His Holy Spirit in learning to live like Him.
We see in Jesus a devotion to seeking quiet time alone in prayer with the Father.
We see in Jesus a passion for Scripture, memorizing and meditating on it.
We see in Jesus a love of eating and drinking with friends.
We see in Jesus a commitment to a weekly rhythm of rest.
We see in Jesus a readiness to starving the flesh through fasting to feed the spirit.
We see in Jesus a slower pace that enabled Him to be present with people.
We see in Jesus’ teachings the power of narrative to shape and form us.
Jesus, our teacher, lived and modeled these formational habits and more. As we follow in His footsteps, His Holy Spirit will add grace to our meager efforts to produce love, joy and peace in our lives.

Love Like Jesus
Jesus boiled His whole ministry and message down to one word: Love. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” And “love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jesus’ love is uniquely sacrificial and selfless. In His teachings, you can read about the radical kind of life that flows out of this kind of love. Slow to anger, faithful, pure, honest and gracious, even to enemies who don’t love in return.
This love is the greatest ambition of every believer. It is our aim in this life and our prize in the next. Love is the currency of heaven and the only riches you can take with you when you die.
As we live like Jesus, we learn to love like Jesus. Our church loves to practice this kind of love in our service to one another and our surrounding community.
